Connecting a Tradier account
This page covers how to connect your Tradier broker account to Option Panel so you can trade directly from our platform.
Real and paper Tradier accounts
Section titled “Real and paper Tradier accounts”You can connect both a real Tradier brokerage account and a paper trading account. The process is the same in both cases; the only difference is which set of credentials you provide (see the Real vs Sandbox section below).
Opening the connection form
Section titled “Opening the connection form”- Click the user icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Select Trading accounts from the dropdown.
- On the Tradier card, click Connect to Tradier.
Connection form fields
Section titled “Connection form fields”Name and description
Section titled “Name and description”Give the account an identifying name and, optionally, a short description to help you recognise it.
Price Mode
Section titled “Price Mode”Two options:
- Market Price — orders use the current market price (Bid for selling, Ask for buying). Higher chance of immediate execution.
- Mid Price — orders are priced at the midpoint between Bid and Ask. Can be more favourable, but execution is less guaranteed. Default.
Account type
Section titled “Account type”Indicates whether the connection is a real Tradier account or a paper trading account.
Tradier Account ID and Tradier Access Token
Section titled “Tradier Account ID and Tradier Access Token”The two credentials Option Panel uses to talk to Tradier on your behalf. The next section walks through where to find them in Tradier.
Retrieving the credentials from Tradier
Section titled “Retrieving the credentials from Tradier”- Log into your Tradier account on tradier.com using your credentials.
- Your Account ID is visible in the top-right corner of the dashboard.
- Click the user-menu area at the top to expand the account options, then navigate to the API section.
- Copy the API Key. This is what goes into the Tradier Access Token field in Option Panel.
Real vs Sandbox credentials
Section titled “Real vs Sandbox credentials”For a real Tradier account, use the Account ID and API Key shown by default.
For a paper trading Tradier account, use the account number and API Key from the Sandbox API Access block, a little further down in the same section.
Saving
Section titled “Saving”Once every field is filled in, click Save changes. Your Tradier account is linked and ready to trade from Option Panel.
